Brocklesby is the point at which the busy freight route from Immingham converges with the main line from Grimsby, to run together through a gap in the Lincolnshire Wolds towards Barnetby. The layout here was remodelled in the late 1990s, with the large lever frame replaced with a "temporary" NX panel as a precursor to a plan to close the box and transfer control to neighbouring Ulceby (the panel actually lasted until the whole area was resignalled many years later!). It is the latter which is simulated here.
Brocklesby works Track Circuit Block towards Ulceby on the Immingham lines, and also on the Main lines towards Grimsby. The line towards Barnetby is somewhat unusual - both Down lines (towards Barnetby) are Track Circuit Block, but the Up line (from Barnetby) is Absolute Block.
Some artistic licence has been used in the representation of the block instruments/indicators and bells, which have been shown as built into the panel itself instead of using BR Standard block instruments placed on an adjacent desk as in reality.
Care should be taken when regulating trains towards the west - freight trains do not have to be run on their booked line, but note that a freight run Down the Main with a passenger train close behind will inevitably delay the latter (especially if it will then need to be crossed to the Slow or Goods line at Barnetby East), whereas a freight run Down the Goods instead of the Main will lose time as the Down Goods line has a permissible speed of only 30mph. Take special care with freight trains booked to stop at Barnetby station for a crew change - even if they cross to the Slow line at Barnetby East to do so, the rear of the train will still be foul of the Down Main in most cases.
