Simulation selection:
1. If you are connected to the Internet, log in to your PCSig account and click ‘check for updates’ to download and install any updates available.
2. Select the simulation that you wish to launch, and then the select the signal box that you wish to operate.
3. Click ‘next’ to go to the network options screen...
Network options:
4. Enter a four-character code, to identify yourself, that will be shown on messages that you send to other users during networked sessions.
If you wish to allow clients to connect to join your session, or to allow users running other simulations to chain to you...
5. Enter the port number that you wish to use for client connections. The default is 50505, but you will need to change this if port 50505 is already in use, for example hosting another simulation at the same time. You may need to set up port forwarding rules on your router, and set your firewall to allow connections. Click ‘server mode’ to allow others to connect, and tell them your IP address and port number.
Clients wishing to join your session may attempt to join now, but users running other simulations wishing to chain with your session must wait until the simulation has fully loaded.
If you wish to join another user’s session as a client...
6. Enter the other user’s IP address and the number of the port that they are using (default 50505) and click ‘connect’. You will see a message in the “received messages” window when your request has been accepted and you have successfully connected.
Timetable options:
7. To load a previously saved session, click to select the relevant .svg file and then click ‘load session’.
8. Alternatively, to launch a new session, select the timetable that you wish to load. If the timetable has defined start times, these will be shown in the drop-down box below, and selecting one of these will populate the start day/time boxes. These may be overridden by manually entering a different time, but this will prevent any ‘seed’ trains included in the timetable from being generated at the start of the session.
9. The timetable editor may be launched by using the ‘new timetable’ button or, with a timetable selected, the ‘edit timetable’ button, or click 'next' to go to the startup options screen to launch a simulation session...
Startup options:
10. Any simulation-specific options will be shown here, along with the option to vary the level of disruption and failures, and the option of launching the simulation in a paused state. Click ‘new session’ to launch the simulation.
